TRAINING DAY
I had never heard of Hard Cuddles till one day at school when I was told with my classmates that we are going to have a guest speaker come in and talk about his story. To be honest my first thought was “not another guest speaker” as school has brought a lot of people to speak to us about their story or company, but this time was different.
When we saw him, the room changed as even kids that would speak over the guest speaker stopped and listened to what was being said. He had the whole room listening as he said it how it is and did not hold back with telling his whole story. One of the things that I noticed, he was not afraid to show emotion or tears as he told his story with parts that are still raw to talk about.
I knew halfway through I wanted to do my work placement with him and to learn from him, lucky for me James was more then happy to have me take part in Hard Cuddles.
When I had my first day in placement it was a training day where we brainstormed ideas and I got to meet the whole team and straight away I knew I was in the right place. The calm welcoming atmosphere put me at ease.
Atmosphere in a place is very important to me and having that calm and welcoming feel to the place made it easy for me to open and share my ideas as well as my thoughts. James was so welcoming to have me along and I just love what he does for people who reach out for help that would normally fall through the cracks.
I’m looking forward to learning and growing as a person as when you are around James and his amazing team you can’t help but smile and feel at ease.
